Dried persimmons and half-dried persimmons sold on the market are treated with sulfur fumigation to prevent bacterial contamination. During this process, sulfur dioxide may remain on the surface. While it is generally harmless, it can trigger allergic reactions in some sensitive individuals. 

* The white powder on the surface is a crystallized form of sugar that has concentrated and dried during the peeling and drying process. It is called "sisang" in Korean. This "sisang" is known to be beneficial for respiratory health and is even used in traditional Korean medicine for respiratory treatments. Feel free to enjoy it without worry!
